1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

This is the title of our film and because it is a horror we used a convention of horror witch is a dark background so the text stands out and this is good because we had wind sound behind it to make the atmosphere of the film scare and sends shivers down your spine and wind and this is a convention of horror because a lot of horror films are sit in the woods.

In this scene we used a establishing shot to show where the film is set  the scene and this is s convention off all films and this is important for  horror, we also challenged the convention of horror when it is set in the night and we set ours in the day to make it more shocking in the day and most murders happen at night and we set ours in the day so it is more shocking.we used a vinyet in this part of the film a a convention of horror and this shows the horror aspect of our film.

In this scene we have used a long shot to show the characters isolation  and this means he is on his own and no one can see him, also this makes the audience think that something is going to happen to him. we also did a voice over and from the way he said it , he shows that he is scared and that he feels like he is alone.
In this scene we used a convention of horror with the lighting and it shows that he is isolated from the world ad this also linked with him locking himself in the house and this scares the watcher and brings on tension.

after effects

I didnt know how to work after effects and what i did was just use it and i learnt how to change the text size and font, also i learnt how o use the noice effects also i learnt how to blear things.

The effect I used in this one at the end was I changed the opacity of the word and the picture this meant as it fades out you can lead onto the next scene , this works well because the colours contrast well.

film day

We all met up on the set day and time, we then began to clear away things from the house such as magazines, our personal items and any pictures of Sammy and her family from the house, as these things shouldn't be in any of the shots, after this we then put them in a room we wouldn't be filming in to keep them out of the way.

Sammy then styled Ash's hair to be appropriate for filming after he got changed into his suit, we then decided to film the outside scenes first as stated on our filming schedule as it wasn't raining and was relatively bright, we then filmed the shots several times and made sure that they all looked fine, then proceeded to move inside. We then messed things up which we was going to film, such as un-tucking chairs, moving placemats and the toaster etc. and then filmed majority of scenes besides the dining room, living room and the final scene.

We stopped and had a break from filming and ate some food, then filmed the remaining scenes and deleted certain failed shots from the camera, then we returned Sammy's house back to the way it was when we arrived, then everyone went home as filming was completed.

First Cut

After weeks of editing, we have our first cut of the opening, we have been given feedback from our teacher, who has said that we need to add our titles and logo, which we are going to do as they have been created we just have to add them into our film. We have also been told that we need to make the scary face flashback slightly longer and perhaps add an effect which we are going to look into downloading, we also need to make this scenes much more exaggerated to really nail the horror feel. We are going to cut down the duration of the entire film and work on some blurry shots by changing settings to make the shots look sharper and more focused.
We did get some positive feedback, that our POV shots was good and the ending is a good horror ending, we just need to remove one particular pan from the end. We also need to add a 'cinematic feel' to our film by using Cineon Converter as well as adding a Vignette effect to the flashback scenes to make them darker and edgier.
This is our first cut of the film -

Risk assessment

What is a risk assessment?

A risk assessment is a document which allows everyone on the set to know what the dangers are whilst filming, how to prevent them and what to do if the risks occur.
Who uses them?

The director creates the risk assessment, with everyone involved in the shoot being aware of the risks involved, so they know with each particular shot what to watch out for, what to do if the risk happens and how to prevent the risk all together.
What do they include?

They include risks to equipment, health, these could be things to do with action, weather or set related, it then says how likely the risk is to happen and what can be done to avoid the risk.

Titles

titles

The evil dead logo is dark and scary and that is a convention of horror and the way that it is red and red is blood and evil.

this is a good logo for horror because it is dark and there is white text on a black background so they stand out.

the text is blurry and this is good because is shows that the killer cant be found and this is also a white text on a black background.

Representation of horror

a representsion of horror is that the camra sht length are really short and snappy and this is to ceate the effect there is a lto going on and this is because there is always a lot going on in oe scean in a horro to get the reader really intrested and really easy to scare them.

another represention of horror is that the lighting is always dark and this is to make the mood sad and upsetting, this is good because this makes the audience feel that nothing is going to happenbut we all really know something will happen or already has.

a nother one is that the music is loud and this is to make the arudence really jumpy and out of there confert zone, this also creates the effect that something is about to happena nd they try and get ready for it and then it because even more scare.

they way they represent horror when it comes to the carretors is that the people that are they once that are meant to be scary they make dark, mysteries and also the people don't know a lot about them. on the other hand they make people that are getting scared they make them timmed and scary.

Roles:
Actors: Ash Thompson
We only need two actors to be in the opening scene, as we need the main character and their doppelganger. The doppelganger’s face won’t be shown, as they will only be filmed from behind them to keep an element of mystery to who the character is. Ashley Thompson will be the actor for the main character and Will Taylor will be the doppelganger. The actor is the part of the film that portrays the characters and their actions and emotions.

Editor: Sammy Bowles, Will Taylor and Ash Thompson
The editor is responsible for making the original shots into the film.
